That was my first car. 86 LXi 5 speed. Door dinged to hell and had something like 285,000 miles on it, but not a bad little car.

The best looking Accord of all time, imo.
I haven’t seen one in years, since rust killed most of them long ago. Very rare sighting, thanks for sharing. I almost want one now...

Having owned one of these, can confirm existence of HRS. The only thing I didn’t like about my Accord hatch was the automatic that mine was equipped with. Honda’s 5 speed is sooo good.

Wow. Just wow. My first car was one of these - slate gray ‘86 LX (LXi?) auto. I lost my virginity in it. And so did two other people :). When I was 18, I got kicked out of the house and lived in it for a few weeks before starting college. Sleeping in the hatch wasn’t bad - I just had to put the speaker box that held my 10” Alpine woofers in the front seat. The early/mid ‘90s were awesome. At 100,000 miles, the timing belt stripped while I was going 60 mph down a back country road. After a new belt and expensive valve job, I drove the thing more than another 150,000 miles.
I was 2nd owner. Bought it from my sis-in-law in 1991 with 32,000 miles. Think I paid her $5,500. Traded it in in 2000 for something like $1,500. It had 254,000 miles on it. I saw it on the road several months after I sold it.
One thing missing on the one pictured that mine had - friggin’ hatch louvers. Well...had until they cracked in the middle and started sagging. Which they all eventually did.

I forgot the best part - back in 1997 my Honda, I, and a friend were caught in a really bad flash flood. Along with several other drivers, I had to abandon my car when a creek swelled out of its banks. My car was in up to 30 inches of water for a day or so. Along with the wet dog interior, electricals were soaked, the ultra high-tech $400 com-puuuuu-terrrrr was fried, and the engine block cracked. 10” Alpines were OK, but the factory cardboard speakers in the doors didn’t make it. Something like $1,800 later, the car was drivable again, which I did for another 100,000 miles or so.
